Pricing

Our initial setup fee is typically $300. This can be more or less, depending on the configuration. In addition, there is a charge of $0.50/GB/month.

How do you do restore a file?

Phone or email us and we will start the restore process. We can either email you the file, or burn it to CD for you to pick up - other options are also available. We do the restore manually to ensure that you are given the best possible match to the file you're looking for. Some customers prefer to be provided with all known versions of their missing file so that they can look through them and choose the best one.

So if I have 20GB of data how much will cost?

Storing 20GB of data on our server will cost $10/month.

Sizes are calculated on the last day of each month. The total size will be included on your invoice. Your data size will vary with size of the files and with the backup scheme that you decide upon. You are billed only for the space that you use. You can request that we delete older data at any time to economize on space.

What backup scheme would you suggest?

We've found that most restores we do are for data that was changed within the past 48 hours. We kept this in mind when we designed our standard backup strategy. Our standard backup strategy consists of:

  • one complete copy of your data that is less than 24 hours old
  • a second complete copy of your data that is less than 48 hours old
  • daily changes for 14 days
  • weekly summarized changes for 10 weeks
  • monthly summarized changes for as long as the customer requires

Can I choose when my backup occurs?

Yes. Most people prefer to have their backups occur every night after business hours.

What's the advantage of having all those old copies of my files?

Perhaps you lost a file a month ago and didn't notice until now. With our system, there's a good chance that we'll be able to recover some version of that file, rather than having lost the file entirely.

Is there some way for me to know how much space I'm using?

Usage is on your monthly invoice. If you need usage information emailed to you more frequently, we can make that happen.

Real Life Examples

Here are some examples of the amount of data different types of business might have. In some cases, the ratio of data stored by the client to the amount of data backed up is higher - in these cases, there is a significant amount of data change on the client's server. When this occurs, more data is backed up.
