Case Study: DHCP Analysis

Problem: An ISP was making changes to their network that entailed moving users around inside a limited address space allocation. Subnets were being reallocated, free address space had to be assessed, and migrations had to be verified.

Solution: A tool to analyze the existing DHCP leases had to be created. It had to test that the lease was valid at a certain time, and filter it by a configurable IP subnet.

Result: The subnet migration progress was streamlined and more reliable.
